About the PitStop Hostel

I first started my South American travel in Venezuela in Feb 2007. I flew into Caracas carrying all my valuables in my shoes in fear of being being mugged on my first night. I had not planned on coming to Colombia but after meeting several people in Venezuela who had told me what a great place it was and how nice the people were i decided to go with my mates. We travelled down the coast into Santa Marta and then into Cartagena having a ball before i finally landed in Medellin. Here, instead of spending the original 2 weeks that i planed to stay i ended up having a ball and staying for about 2 months. In that time i heard and discussed with many people how Medellin could do with a new and improved hostel. At the time it was just talk and i continued on travelling for another month or so down into Peru. After seeing many good hostels i started to pick up many ideas and i decided to head back to Medellin and get this hostel going. It took me close to 8 months to finally open our hostel and not a day goes by that i regret it i am having a great time with the backpackers and loving sharing my knowledge of the city with them. Hopefully we will see a huge growth in tourism here in Colombia so everyone can see how beautiful and friendly this place truly is.
